Lesson Four: The Cradleboard

Elmer Yazzie's explanation of the various symbols in the cradleboard will fascinate both teachers and students. Among the Navajo, the father is responsible for making the "baby carrier" for his child. The cradelboard is not just a tool for the convenience of the parents. It does not belong to them,  but to the child. In our lesson, both boys and girls will enjoy making a model cradleboard.
