Lesson Two: Clothing & Jewelry

This lesson begins with information about the evolution of Navajo dress over time. We discover that clothing changes were tied to historical events such as the arrival of European and Spanish settlers, the Long Walk and imprisonment at Fort Sumner. On DVD, we visit the shop of an award-winning Navajo silversmith. Then students make their own craft versions of Navajo jewelry and concho belts.
